2024 Grand Marshal: Rev. Wanda Thompson

Ambassador Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Wanda Thompson announced as Grand Marshals for the 19th Annual MLK Holiday DC Peace Walk and Parade on January 15, 2024 in Washington, DC.

Rev. Wanda Thompson is a native Washingtonian who has served since 2014 as the second Pastor of The Ambassador Baptist Church where she has been a member since 1976.

She received her Master of Divinity degree from the Howard University School of Divinity. She received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dickinson College and her Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Temple University in Clinical Psychology and is licensed as a psychologist in both D.C. and Maryland. She received a Certificate in Leadership Development in 2009 from the George Washington School of Education for her one year participation in their Master Teacher program and has received other certificates for clergy training in business and leadership.

Rev. Thompson is active in several community organizations, boards, and committees. She has conducted trainings; participated in several advocacy efforts; and, has testified before the D.C. Council on many issues.

Rev. Thompson truly believes in serving her community. She has been very concerned about, and has advocated against displacement of Black residents from the city.

Her family includes her three siblings and their families and her church members. Most importantly, she considers herself a servant of God.
